Summary:
Have you ever wondered what numerology is? Numerology tells us certain things about a person’s character, what strengths and weaknesses they possess; it can even be used to predict their future. Learn how numerology can be used to better understand people.

Article Body:
Each day, we are exposed to numbers. We have phone numbers, birthdates, even our financial information is driven by numbers. Numerology is the study of the numbers in our lives and how they affect us. A student of numerology uses the letters in a word, such as a full name, or a birth date and reduces that to a single number. That number tells them certain things about the person’s character, what strengths and weaknesses they possess; it can even be used to predict their future. Numerology is often closely associated astrology as astrologists assigned the numbers 0 through 9 to each celestial body in the solar system and each number has its own set of values.

Numerology has been around for thousands of years. The Egyptians and Babylonians both used it over 10,000 years ago. Pythagoras, a mathematician whose theories are still in use today, is believed to have official organized numerology in Greece over 2,500 years ago. He held the view that math concepts were easier to regulate and classify than physical ones. Others beliefs and writings important in the development of numerology were early Christian mysticism, the Chinese Circle of the Dead, the Kabbalah, and the Indian Vedas. At the beginning of the 20th century, L. Dow Balliet published the first book about numerology, beginning what is known as the modern phase of numerology and interest in it grew over the next few decades. Recently, a revival of interest in numerology has occurred and many people are learning how numbers might affect them.

Although methods may vary, typically a numerologist reduces a word or number using a procedure called digit summing. If the numerologist is dealing with a number, such as a birth date, they add up all the numbers. If the sum is two or more digits, then those numbers are added until there is a single digit left. When dealing with a word, such as a name, each letter of the alphabet is assigned a number. For example, A =1, B = 2, C = 3. Then the same steps as above are followed – the numbers are summed until one digit remains. Some numerologists will not break numbers that total 11, 22, or 33. These are known as master numbers and are considered to have higher vibrations as than the numbers they would create if digitally summed.

Below is a brief definition of each number:

One – Because it is the first number, one is seen as having great power. Usually seen as “male,” one can be happy, loving and dynamic while also being alone and egotistical.

Two – Associated with “female” energy, two often represents partnerships and interacting with others. It can also stand for the polar opposites of things such as black and white or good and evil. This number is best symbolized by the Chinese symbol Yin-Yang.

Three – Three is often related to learning through life experiences. It is often considered lucky and magical. It can mean both wisdom and understanding, yet also be foolish and negative.

Four – The first composite number (the first number to be created by multiplying numbers other than one and itself), four is associated with the four cardinal points (North, South, East and West), the four Gospels of the Bible, and time (four seasons, roughly four weeks in each month). It is a homonym for the Chinese word for “death,” therefore; some hospitals do not have a fourth floor.

Five – Five is related with the five senses (smell, touch, taste, hearing, and sight) and often represents service to others as well as openness to new experiences, but it can also represent an addictive personality.

Six – The number six relates to beauty and often helps in building relationships. It is believed to hold charm, sensuality, and diplomacy. Six is also considered the mother/father number.

Seven – A spiritual number, seven can be both dreamy and spiritual while also being deceptive and insincere.

Eight – Eight represents hard work and life lessons. Because of that, eight is seen as seeking financial and material success, but is also associated with the hardships encountered while seeking both.

Nine – A sacred number, nine is viewed as a humanitarian number and holds mystical significance due to the nine-month gestational period for humans.

Numerology has been around for thousands of years. As with astrology, some see numerology as an occult science with little meaning, while others see it as a viable way to help them understand themselves and the world around them.

The Queer Eye Boys are into what they do. You can tell. Their show has such a different feeling than the spin-off *Queer Eye for the Straight Girl* which lacks chemistry and authenticity. The synergy between the hosts and guests comes through when you connect to the host and audience through your passion. Things come alive. I hate that saying, *If you can’t be sincere, fake it until you can.* That’s such a cop out.

It’s like all this new veneered furniture with one thin layer of real wood masking pressboard or
plywood. Yuk. Are you telling me you can’t tell the difference between what is solid and what is fake? In *The Practician’s Manual of Legerdemain* Ottawa Keyes says, *When it comes to the requirements for pleasing an audience, all the knowledge and instruction and apparatus in the world is worth less than one ounce of soul.* Ain’t it so?

2. Be cheeky.

When Carson, the head Queer Eye guy says, *Is it hot in here or is it just you?* and then almost licks some shirtless hottie blond boy we’re right there with him. Yup, temperatures are rising. He makes us laugh and sweat at the same time. Loosen up a little and see what happens. Be playful. Say something a bit dangerous. Or better yet, DO something dangerous.

3. Give good tips.

After each segment the boys give their take-home tips. These are little gems that help you remember to properly tame your tangles, manage your manners, or bolt your belt at just the right angle. Provide your audience with saucy soundbites that linger so they can keep enjoying you. Give them solid ideas that they can implement asap. I’ve come to think that it’s not the big idea but the minutiae that is most important. Take your ideas down to the smallest level of detail so they are easy for people to implement.

4. Show tangible visible results.

Visible transformations make audiences swoon. Can you do a before and after? In one show the *boys*
helped a balding man who was married to his toupee give it up. His wife and his kids hadn’t seen his head without the fake hair for many years. His willingness to finally be *seen* was dramatic. His transformation was both inner and outer. These kinds of transformations keep audiences spellbound. Think about how you can devise one for a show you want to be on.

5. Have fun.

What makes Queer Eye so great is that everyone has such a grand time. What good is all the publicity in the world if you dread it? M. Scott Peck says *The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.* If you can let go of the outcome (no matter how important–because those are the hardest ones to let go of), you will free yourself to have a good time, anytime, anywhere, with anyone. What could be better?

Web Page Design is a Reflection of Your Business

Title:
Web Page Design is a Reflection of Your Business

Summary:
Often, small- and medium-sized business owners aren’t aware of the impact that their websites have on customers and potential customers. Are you one of them?

Keywords:
web designer, web design, web site, website, design, designer, website designer, professional web page designer, profes

Article Body:
Consider this scenario. You’re considering patronizing a certain business, and decide to look it up on the Internet before making your final decision. Up pops their website and it looks like someone went berserk with a web design program. The fonts are either unreadable or the text is so large that it screams at you. The colors clash or are so bright that they hurt your eyes. The pictures are out of focus or so large that the page takes forever to load. Hyperlinks lead nowhere, and the site navigation leaves you perplexed. In a split second, you know that you’ll never give this company your business.

This may be an exaggeration, but we’ve all seen bad web site designs. They infect the Web like a bad head cold that won’t let go. You can’t help but wonder what the business owner was thinking. After all, why have a website if it reflects poorly on your company or actually drives customers away?

Often, small- and medium-sized business owners aren’t aware of the impact that their websites have on customers and potential customers. They may know that having a web site is important, but think that professional webpage design is cost prohibitive. So, they conclude that their child, neighbor, or spouse can put something together and that it will be “good enough.” Or, ten years ago they may have actually paid a professional web page designer and having done any modifications for years.

In today’s business world, there’s no getting around the fact that your web page design is a reflection of your business. Whether yours is an e-commerce site, a lead generation site, or simply a small informational website, you need to put your best (virtual) foot forward and project an image that puts your business in the best possible light. Keep in mind that, if you don’t have a good website, your competition probably does and is siphoning customers away from you.

If you’ve hesitated hiring a business web page designer because of cost considerations, it’s time to think again. Unless you need a highly customized, programming intensive site, a web designer isn’t going to break the bank. In fact, there are web page design firms that specialize in helping small- to medium-sized businesses succeed in their online endeavors.

Today, a website designer can economically provide you with hundreds of templates from which to choose. These templates come in a variety of styles that are appropriate for a wide range of businesses. A professional web page designer can easily customize templates, giving them images and graphics that will make your website unique.

In addition, a web page design company can provide you with a suite of options that will help you develop your online business. These tools might include a shopping cart, an SSL certificate, free hosting, email accounts, domain registration, and even marketing strategies.

If you don’t already have a website, your business needs an online presence. If you haven’t updated the design of your company website in two years or more, it’s time to consult with a web page design company. And, if you happen to have one of the nightmarish sites that turn potential customers away, it’s time to look forward, turn over a new leaf, and hire a professional web page designer.

Leadership: Be An Example

Title:
Leadership: Be An Example

Word Count:
856

Summary:
A leader who has the respect of others is the most effective. The best way to gain this respect is to set an example for the others to follow. People resent the “do as I say not as I do” attitude. Authority is provided with the position. However, respect is something that must be earned.

Keywords:
Leadership, motivation, procrastination

https://buddiesbuzz.com/

Article Body:
The greatest leaders in history were the ones who had the ability to command the respect of the people who followed them. This is something that they earned. It was not blindly given to them. One can be given authority by simply being in a position. However, no position can garner respect. It is the actions of the individual that lead to others providing it.

One of the most basic ways to gain the respect of those which you have authority is to be an example. Whatever you preach, be certain that you are living it. Management is not about issuing orders. It is about making decisions that are to the benefit of the organization. Sometimes, these decisions come in conflict with the “troops”. How these challenges are surmounted is partially contingent upon the respect the manager has from the personnel.

It seems that a lot of people in authority operate with the attitude “do as I say, not as I do”. This is a surefire way to instill resentment among those you are leading. They begin to question why should they do something that you are not willing to do. There is a lot of legitimacy to this. How can you expect someone else to do what you are not willing to do yourself? Under normal circumstances, this is a misguided way to run an organization.

Military history is littered with leaders of all kinds. There are those who excelled with a fair number who flopped. Nevertheless, the image of the battlefield offers a wonderful example of the different ways to lead. Picture a general on horseback telling the troops to charge while hanging safely in the rear. Compare this with the same general in front of his troops shouting “charge” and rushing forward towards the enemy. Obviously, the second is an example of a leader willing to do what he asks of others.

Leading through your actions is one effective way to gain the respect of your staff. Another, is to exemplify the characteristics that the organization is promoting. If you are seeking honesty, a willingness to work, and intelligence, it is best to have these traits yourself. People are more apt to stay and work late if their manager is putting the hours in also. Similarly, if a leader is willing to “get his/her hands dirty”, the organization knows that person is not looking down at them. Businesses make the lines of command clear. A manager who is a working part of them team will have the respect of those personnel.

Another way to garner their esteem is to keep the lines of distinction clear. Too often, managers become friends with those whom they are leading. This creates the situation where a mixture of emotions can come into play. Leading involves the making of decisions. Unfortunately, it is impossible to keep everyone in an organization happy. There will be some who feel that a particular choice negatively affects them. In these instances, if there is a “friendship” between the manager and staff, some will take it personally. In a healthy managerial position, the organization will realize that you selections are based upon what is best for the company without regard to personal likes.

The example you set is the one that will filter through your team. In the era of rapid change, one of the qualities needed is the ability to learn. When people work for managers who fall behind in terms of advancements, their respect dwindles. I personally incurred a situation where I worked for someone who had no idea what our business was about. To make matter worse, since he did nothing to improve his level of expertise, he was just as uninformed 6 months later. He had the authority that came with the position. However, he had did not have the respect of anyone on our team.

The days of operating in an “ivory tower” are history. People are too transient to work under such conditions. By the time individuals reach their mid 30’s, they have worked under a variety of different managers. This gives them a wide scope of experience. If you can curry their respect, the chances of retaining them are greatly increased.

People watch what their leaders are doing. The papers are filled with people in positions of power who are caught behaving in an embarrassing manner. These individuals did something when they thought nobody was looking. Of course, someone was watching. The same is true within your organization. Like children, employees take notice immediately when your words and actions split. Effective leaders are most concerned about “walking the walk”.

It is difficult to be a living, breathing example of all that you want your team to be. However, to be the most effective manager, this is absolutely critical. A leader cannot lead if others are not willing to follow. Mutiny is not something that only happens on the high seas. Gaining the respect of your personnel is a guaranteed way to ensure they will follow you. Set the example for the behavior you want and them show them that you expect them to do the same.

Just What Do We Pay Graphic Designers For

Just What Do We Pay Graphic Designers For

Word Count:

Summary:
What exactly do we pay graphic designers for? To make things look pretty right? Ok, maybe they are of a bit more use than that …perhaps to make things look professional and pretty?

Ok, I’ll admit I’m still suggesting that things might be a bit more simplistic than they really are.

Article Body:
We all know, that in actual fact designers not only create images that are designed to catch the eye of the consumer, but to make a business appear professional also and indeed the core purpose of their work is to help convert potential customers into actual customers via brand/image and marketing materials linked in with this.

Is that all?
I’m sure a lot of business owners think that really is all there is to the design industry that serves them and the many designers that populate it.

In some cases (for some designers) that really is all there is to it – they don’t operate on many other levels other than to make their designs professional, pretty, and eye catching.

However there really are other aspects that must be considered when you commission a design to develop the brand image for your business, a couple of these are explored in more detail now;

1. Target Market;
Recently I was approached by a company interested in brand design; their product and service was one that should be targeting both men and women, and yet when I was shown the design they had received already for another designer I immediately noted some glaring issues with it.

The design itself was eye pleasing and on the surface of it a less experienced person may observe that it was a professional effort; but the designer had produced something which featured a stylised woman as the central figure within the logo and not only that despite the stylised nature of the image, she was clearly of oriental heritage.

I quickly pointed out to the customer that when one’s target market is male and females and not women only, that to gender bias one’s logo design is counter productive, and even worse to possibly alienate even more people by making the character a particular ethnicity when your product is targeted at all nationalities.

A creative must think, think, think, and then and think some more about the target market when they are designing. To enable that before they start designing, they absolutely have to ask the business owner about the business; who are the customers, how will the product or service be sold to them, and so on.

2. Colours & Tones
A long time ago now I wrote a very popular article entitled the ‘The Relationship Between Colours & Sales’ – I’ve long since populated the piece across the internet and you can thus read it on many websites.

Although as creatives we don’t need to enslave ourselves completely to the rules of colour psychology, any designer working on a project should always keep this in mind.

In addition to considering the psychological effect certain colours have on mood and behaviour, which is well documented by the marketing industry, one needs to consider the socio-economic dynamic of the target market as this has some bearing on the tone of the colour scheme chosen.

For instance it’s not uncommon for my clients to ask for a bright colour scheme for their brand design, but this doesn’t always suit their target market; it’s known that low income groups are attracted to bright colours and thus if you don’t wish to attract low income groups a bright colour scheme isn’t right for your brand design regardless of what you like as an individual.

When your designer goes to work and you review concepts it’s vital to appreciate the design isn’t supposed to necessarily appeal to what you like, it’s supposed to appeal to your target market and this may not necessarily be the same thing as your own favourite colours.

These are just a couple of important areas that must be considered by your designer before they start work on your brand development, some of the other areas include;

– Ensuring the design will work well whether printed billboard sized or business card sized.

– Making sure the company name is easily readable.

– Ensuring the design is neither too tall in height, or too wide horizontally; disproportionate designs can be more difficult to incorporate into layouts for print such as flyers, stationery, brochures and so on; this means these items may not look as good as they should.

Much of this advice can also be applied even when you already have your brand design established and have moved on to developing this further with your marketing materials.

It’s important that the designer working on your printed stationery and marketing materials appreciates the need to be sympathetic to the brand theme already established, and also has sufficient skill and experience to bear in mind that designs created must appeal to the target market.

New Perspectives

I recently conducted a workshop to introduce U.S. trainers to a variety of creative learning activities designed by Jordanians. The workshop began by explaining the context in which the activities were designed.

Because the participants in the Jordanian train the trainer program work for Mercy Corps, their focus was on major issues. These include: a poor economy, non-existent energy and water resources, lack of women’s equity, violence against women, and the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on a poor country with limited resources.

My intention was to explain how each activity was designed and facilitated, and then have the workshop participants experience it in an adapted form. I did my best so that the adapted activities would have the same emotional impact.

It wasn’t until we debriefed the activities that I realized the activities had so much more potential.

For example, for a teaching tolerance activity, I explained that Zaid AlHeji asked the participants, depending upon the statements he read, to move in front of one of three flip charts, which were titled: Agree, Neutral, and Disagree,.

He began with simple objective statements, e.g. “I am single.”

Next, Zaid moved to more subjective statements, e.g. “I am considered short.”

Finally, he made deeply personal statements, e.g. “I would allow my child to marry a Syrian refugee.”

Their agreement or disagreement with the statements created a moment of truth for many of the Jordanian trainers, who provide direct services to the refugees. Some of the trainers were very surprised at their choices, which seemed counter to what they thought they believed.

For my workshop activity, I drafted simple objective and subjective statements that did not require a great deal of thought on the part of the participants.

However, the deeply personal statements I drafted were intended to provoke some real soul searching about personal values as they related to current issues in the US. These statements included:

· I believe in the separation of church and state.

· I would send my child to an integrated public school.

· I would marry a person of a different color.

· I believe in treating everyone with respect.

· I would not enforce policies that I know to be unfair.

· I would harbor an illegal alien who has lived here for years.

Criticism 2021

The Human Development Index has been scrutinized on various grounds, including claimed absence of thought of mechanical turn of events or commitments to the human civilization, zeroing in only on public execution and positioning, absence of consideration regarding improvement from a worldwide point of view, estimation blunder of the fundamental measurements, and on the UNDP’s adjustments in equation which can prompt serious misclassification in the categorisation of “low”, “medium”, “high” or “high” human advancement countries. mapolist

Wellsprings of information blunder

Financial analysts Hendrik Wolff, Howard Chong and Maximilian Auffhammer talk about the HDI from the viewpoint of information blunder in the fundamental wellbeing, training and pay insights used to build the HDI. They recognized three wellsprings of information blunder which are because of (I) information refreshing, (ii) recipe modifications and (iii) limits to arrange a country’s advancement status and reason that 11%, 21% and 34%, all things considered, can be deciphered as of now misclassified in the improvement canisters because of the three wellsprings of information mistake, separately. The creators propose that the United Nations should stop the act of arranging nations into improvement containers on the grounds that: the cut-off qualities appear to be self-assertive, can give motivating forces to key conduct in detailing official insights, and can possibly misinform legislators, financial backers, good cause contributors and the public who utilize the HDI at large.[22]

In 2010, the UNDP responded to the analysis and refreshed the edges to order countries as low, medium, and high human advancement nations. In a remark to The Economist toward the beginning of January 2011, the Human Development Report Office responded[23] to a 6 January 2011 article in the magazine[24] which examines the Wolff et al. paper. The Human Development Report Office expresses that they attempted a precise amendment of the strategies utilized for the computation of the HDI, and that the new system straightforwardly addresses the investigate by Wolff et al. in that it creates a framework for constantly refreshing the human-advancement classifications at whatever point equation or information corrections occur.

In 2013, Salvatore Monni and Alessandro Spaventa underlined that in the discussion of GDP versus HDI, it is frequently failed to remember that these are both outer pointers that focus on various benchmarks whereupon the evaluation of cultural government assistance can be predicated. The bigger inquiry is whether it is feasible to move the focal point of strategy from a fight between contending ideal models to an instrument for evoking data on prosperity straightforwardly from the population
